Weekend With My Children, part 2

These posts are a little out of order in that I shot these images the day before I shot the ones in the last post. The older of my two sons, Ryan, his wife, Amanda and their two sweet little girls, Madison and Hannah were here for a weekend visit and we managed a little family session out in the buttercups late on Saturday afternoon.  It's always fun to have them over for some family time, and Madison is turning into a little horse lover.
It was a great weekend spending time with both of our children and their families.

Weekend with my children

It was one of those spur of the moment things on Sunday evening. I had been watching this tree on this hill for several seasons and visualizing a portrait session here. It's just at the top of the hill above the house where Austin and Hailey live so I had passed it many times.  We talked about shooting here, and we had been talking about a session... soon.  It's a busy time of year around here so it's hard for us to connect our schedules sometimes, even though we only live 10 minutes apart.  But the call came in on Sunday evening... the light was right, the clouds were glorious.. let's do it.. now. So I jumped in my truck and buzzed up the hill to capture these images. The only downside was the weather. It was windy as you can see, but the wind was out of the north at about 25 mpi and it was barely 50 degrees. We were all kind of cold, but we pulled off some good shots anyway. Thanks to Austin and Hailey for getting out there.  Love these pics and I love these people.

Randi and Jeff are married Eureka Springs, Arkansas Wedding Photographer

First of all, I have to say that I regret the delay in blog posts here, but not the reason why. In recent months I have been very busy with the planning stages for a new home/office/ studio. More on that later.

Randi and Jeff are just incredibly sweet people who are a perfect pair. It was so easy to photograph them and their families. Their wedding ceremony was held at Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on March 31, 2012. The reception was held at the Historic Basin Park Hotel. At cake cutting time they were successful at making a mess without making TOO big a mess.  Posting a few photos here for you, Randi and Jeff. I will be in touch with all the rest very soon!

Hannah Kate

My new little grand daughter, Hannah Kate joined our family on Monday, February 6. I was able to pull off a few good newborn shots in the hospital room.  More shots are on the way, but I had to post this... I'm a little proud of her.

Winter Water

A heavy mid-winter rainfall filled the streams and rivers in north Arkansas a few days ago. With that came an opportunity to get out and capture some waterfall beauty with my camera. Photo buddy, Rhonda Mills and I took an afternoon hike up a nearby canyon called Lost Valley. We were zeroed in on photographing lovely Eden Falls at the end of the trail, but found ourselves intrigued by the little hidden gems of Clark Creek along the way.

Ashley and Austin, Dancing the night away in Eureka Springs, Arkansas

As a photographer, I always look forward to shooting the next wedding. Having done this for awhile you could say I am somewhat "seasoned", but that doesn't stop me from studying and learning new things. This wedding was one I had looked forward to for awhile and I knew I had some time to give it during shooting that would allow me to practice new techniques. Thank you, Austin and Ashley for scheduling in that extra hour of shooting... for that we have some keepers.
Austin Freeman and Ashley Mildfelt were married on Saturday, November 12 at Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Their reception was held at The Space in downtown Eureka Springs. I didn't know before hand that in addition to being a very smart and sweet couple, Austin and Ashley can dance up a storm.... and so could most of their guests. Dinner was great, the location was great and the dance floor never cooled off.. not for a minute.
These are just a few of my favorite shots from our afternoon and evening together.

The green spots on the next photo are from the lazor lights.  Kudos to our great DJ, Sean from Music in Motion.

Alex Halper Eureka Springs Arkansas Senior

Meet my new friend, Alex. He's a senior this year at Eureka Springs High School. I don't often get an opportunity to photograph high school seniors, but I have a good time at it when I do. Alex is pretty easy going and patiently endured our long photo session last weekend. We kicked it off shooting with his father's beautiful red GTO (see below) for an hour or two and then took off to get some shots here and there around this amazing town. These are only a few of the many great shots we got that day. Check 'em out, Alex... there will be lots more real soon.
